Cherry and Chocolate - OOTD

Just a quick ootd of what I wore to college the other day (I neglected to put this up the day I took the pictures, woops). I got the coat as a 21st birthday present from my sister, and it is BEAUTIFUL. Just what I needed for my autumn wardrobe ;) I'm considering getting some fur cuffs and a collar from asos to accessorise it for winter.

I have been looking for a nice pair of flat knee high boots for a while now but to no avail, most were oddly proportioned or just... wrong. Who knew I could find the perfect pair in Penneys of all places??The cardigan is also from Penneys, I decided it was about time I got myself a comfy cardie, I've worn it every day since I bought it :)

Coat - Topshop
Cardigan and boots - Penneys/Primark
Leotard - Topshop
Skirt - New Look
Socks - Penneys/Primark
Necklace - Primark

P.S. I'm currently hooked on the tv show 'Community'... If you've never seen it check it out, SO funny. It has been seriously detrimental to my level productivity though.. I'm already on the second season since discovering it three days ago. Oops.

Masquerade!

My friends' 21st was on last night and they decided to have a masquerade theme (the best kind of theme I think!). I couldn't afford to spend money on a mask/didn't think any of them were worth it so I decided to paint one on ;) So here is a Fotn i guess? But more extreme!

I practiced the night before just using what I had at home. I changed it a little then on the day and I think it turned out really well! Here's what I used:

For the black I used a Benefit Cake Liner, and it worked perfectly, you only need one layer to make it a nice matte black. I have tons of beads in my house so I decided to just use some pearly seed beads to define the edges and make it more 3D, stuck on with eyelash glue. The feathers were from a hairband I had from Penney's, and I left the eyes simple with just black liner (after this picture I added on some fake eyelashes too).

I was happy at how it turned out, and it did take people a few seconds to realise it was painted on ;) Unfortunately I forgot my camera (like an eejit I know) so I've no pictures of everyone else's masks but we all looked very mysterious! :P

Now, I'm off to bed, got sleep to catch up on before my birthday tomorrow (!!), good night!

Autumn Wish List!!

Autumn wish list!

I LOVE Autumn. Ok, the rain, not so much, but the clothes? YUM. The colours, the textures, the layering... *sigh* I love having an excuse to wear a fluffy scarf, and wooly socks, and boots. I'm excited just thinking about it. And now that it's finally october, the time has come to start stocking up on the clothes I've been dreaming about wearing all summer. I've been on a spending ban this past month due to a serious lack in funds, but hopefully with my birthday coming up I will be able to get my hands on a few of these beauties! At the very least I intend to liven up my wardrobe with some new fluffy socks ;) I'm also on the hunt for a new winter coat, something more casual than the one I currently own. Unfortunately these tend to be on the more expensive side so I'm going to have a look in good ol' Penneys to see what I can find :)

I've also decided to stream line my wardrobe. Last month I did a massive clear out but I've found that my collection of clothes just isn't cohesive. There is a lack of... continuity, I guess you'd call it.. in the jumble of clothes in my closet. I tend to buy on a whim, resulting in a mish mash of what can only be described as stuff. So this Autumn, I'm going to form a capsule wardrobe and try to channel a more sophisticated, put together persona. Well, we'll see how it goes anyway :P

Accent Tag!

Came home from a half day in college and decided that I didn't want to be productive, so here you go!! Hopefully this is the start to more blogging, I know I've been very lax recently. Have a nice day :D

❝It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.❞

Isn't it beeeeautiful? Carry on sized luggage - Penneys, €24

So, today I'm off on a girly weekend to Bath... Sorry, sophisticated lady weekend :P My friend Julie and I are heading off to Bath, the home of Jane Austin (♥), to... well I'm not sure really. We are going to walk around, take pictures with our stupidly large cameras and have afternoon tea (well I will, Julie says she will just have a scone.. her aversion to hot drinks baffles me). I was going to show you what I packed but the logistics of laying it all out on my bed plus having to clean my room for the picture put me off the idea. So instead I decieded to list them, and show you a picture of my gorgeous new suitcase :D (psst, that's it up there ⇑).

I have a thing about shoes so I'm bringing 3 pairs (flats, boots, heeled boots)... ridiculous I know but I'm a 'just in case' kind of girl. After that though, the packing is minimal!

1 bandau skirt
1 dress
1 pair of jeans
3 leotards (2 strappy, handy for under things,
and one long sleeved)
1 blouse
1 tshirt
1 light cropped jumper
1 large jumper

As I mentioned in my packing light post, a colour theme always works when trying to pack a carry on case! So I have kept everything black, cream and wine coloured.

In terms of makeup I'm just bringing foundation, powder, mascara, 1 lipstick and my Bobbi Brown travel brush set. :)

I have managed to squeeze a fairly large handbag into the suitcase as well, take that Ryanair!

A Bit of Aix With An OOTD Thrown In..

Yesterday we headed into town for a walk around, icecream and some shopping (when I say some shopping I really just mean Sephora...). The town is beautiful, it's a labarynth of small winding streets and yet it is impossible to get lost... The icecream is not too bad either!

Here is a quick outfit of the day picture for you :) The tshirt is from the River Island summer sale for 3 euro, and the skirt is my sister's from Bershka... It turned out to be a tad windy for a skirt but luckily I was wearing nice knickers ;) Right, I'm off for a mid day nap in the sun! A tout a l'heure :D

La Vie En Rose

Bonjour mes amis!! Apologies for the ridiculously long absence but blogging while living in work was just impractical, and then I flew straight to France! I'm in France at the moment, so far I'm only a teensy bit burnt ;) Unfortunately my tan has yet to show itself. Sneaky sneaky tan. Other than that, my holiday is going swimmingly :D I'm in the south of France with my friends, staying in a gorgeous house outside of Aix en Provence. Anyway, instead of boring you with the details I'll just show you how I've been filling my days...

Oh, and nights... :D

June Favorites

I realise this is slightly late but oh well :P Here are my favorite things from the month of June :)

Ok so I know I only got these boots on the last day of June but I don't care, I LOVE THEM!
So there.

I love this stuff. Eyeliner has never been easier.

That's all.

I broke this the other day but still... I'm going to find a way to use it!

Yeah so this broke yesterday too... I'm not having great luck am I? :P Bitta glue should fix that though, right??

Happy July!

OOTD :)

Helloooo! I felt like putting up a little outfit post as I'm still trying to fit blogging around my work. I'm working in a summer camp and have to live there 5 nights a week, without internet! So blogging is a little difficult at the moment. Anywho, here are my clothes for today :P

Top - Penneys
Shorts - H&M
Boots - Zigi
Hairband - Boots

Barbecue? I'm there.

That title may have gone over the heads of some you, but oh well, you get the gist! I had a barbecue last week before I went off to start work, aaaaand... yeah! Just thought I would share some pictures with you :) (And yes, we do have palm trees in Ireland.. )

Haul! Penneys, Topshop, Asos and River Island

So... I made a youtube video (my channel is MissBeautyBandit). I feel a bit silly but hey, it's grand :P I just felt that a big (ish) haul is easier to do on video rather than taking pictures of each little thing! As well as that, you get the pleasure of hearing my weird mixed up accent (you can blame my childhood abroad for that one). Here it is for your enjoyment!

Summer Sales - A Love Hate relationship

Even Harry Potter gets excited about sales...
Sorry, saw it here and couldn't resist ;)
I will be the first one to admit that I'm a sucker for a sale. When there are sales on, I don't even go near the full price clothes. But I probably spend more money because of it. Something along the lines of 'Oh, it's 7 euro down from 15, absolute bargain, I'll take 5 of them thanks.' Doesn't matter that they are 3 sizes too big and that I haven't tried them on either...

As well as that, I buy things even when I'm not quite sure about them because they might not be there the next day in my size, and that would be a disaster. The result? An empty wallet and a sad Aoife.. Even though I am happy with my stuff obviously :P There are good and bad things about the big sales during the year, so, I thought, why not make a list? Everyone loves lists. Well, I do anyway.

Pros:

Cheap clothes!
It's finally ok to buy those mad trousers because hey, they only cost a tenner.
Being able to buy that dress you've had your eye on for weeks but couldn't afford until now.

That's all I can think of.. wow, maybe sales aren't that brilliant after all :P

Now for the Cons:

MESS. Is it just me or is River Island the worst for this?
They have those shorts you wanted in every size except yours.
All shoes are a size 3. (Which is fine for people like my sister, but for me and my ol' size 5's, we just have to stick to what we have... sigh)
All sale stock just looks a bit... lame, compared to the new stock, even though you were drooling over it last week!
Huge queues at the fitting rooms and check out. (Or, as in a lot of River Island stores during big sales, the fitting rooms aren't even open) ... it's starting to sound like I hate RI in particular now isn't it..?
We are all overcome by the need to buy any bargain, no matter how ridiculous or ill fitting. 'It used to be 50 euro, now it's 20!!'

Favorite sales: Penneys. Yes I know they are cheap already but they reduce things to one euro (!!)
Worst sales: River Island (purely for the mess, the discounts are grand though!)

... and the worst thing about sales? My empty wallet. Sob.

FOTD... or something.

I find the..word(?) FOTD weird.... But anyway, I've done one anyway. Or taken a picture of one. Or... oh never mind. Here is my face for your enjoyment.

P.S: Excuse my hair in these pictures, I'm in the middle of growing out a pixie cut. It is a trying time for me and my hair, and we would rather not talk about it.

A Debs Dress With A Difference

I loved my debs (the Irish equivalent to the prom), but sometimes I wish I had been slightly more daring in my choice of outfit. I didn't start looking for months in advance as most girls do, and any time looked at a price tag of over €100 I would drop it immediately... I don't know why, my mam would have bought it for me anyway! I just have a problem spending so much money on something I will only wear a few times. On a wedding dress, fine, but a debs? Not so much.

Anyway, I found a dress one day that I loved, and after leaving it a while to see if it would go on sale (praying it wouldn't disappear), it did, and that was that.  Let me tell you, if it weren't for my sister's superior eyesight I would never have found the dress in my size that had been hiding on me for weeks, the cheeky little minx.

So, this post is aimed at finding affordable, gorgeous, and slightly different dresses, so that you can stand out from the crowd of girls all dressed in varying shades of black and cream satin (I was one of them.... *sigh*). If you're good, I'll even include a picture of my own debs dress from 2 years ago, but you have to behave! Now, let's get to it (oo er)..

I decided to look for debs dresses on... well, non debs dress sites. All you get there are your typical debs dresses that we've all seen before, yawn. Variations of floor length satin gowns with different cut outs and diamonte embellishments, but essentially the same. These tend to be more expensive, so off to the high streets of online shopping we go!

£15 (!!)

Yes, for 15 pounds you can't expect quality, but this is all just to get you thinking outside the box people! A strapless debs dress is hardly ground breaking (although mine was one of the few at my own debs), but the sequined body and floral skirt make this an altogether more exciting ensemble.

Ok so this one is slightly over the budget I would aim for at €230 but dear lord, LOOK at the thing. I want. I need. I crave. The silhouette isn't one you often see on the average debutant. I love the sleeves, they make this dress special.

For the more demure among us, I give you this beautiful piece:

You don't often see navy in amongst the dresses hung carefully on padded hangers in the typical evening dress shop. Certainly not amongst your peers when you actually arrive at the debs (unless of course, navy is on trend, in which case half the girls will turn up wearing the same colour as your good self).
I do love the flower detailing as well, it's big but not in your face.

If even floor length is to cliche for some of you, or simply too girly, there are plenty of short evening dresses that easily rise to the occasion.

If you can't decide between short or long, why not go in between? God knows the midi skirt is bang on trend, and it means you can still feel formal without tripping over the ends of your dress (mine has a few holes along the hem by now!). I love the boyish feel of the black dress, but I think it's still very appropriate for a debs. Who says you have to conform? :P

And finally, the dress I wish I'd worn to my debs!

source
Ok so I couldn't find the exact one I wanted but something along these lines :) The retro design is exactly what I love, and can you imagine dancing around in it? That's the thing about floor length dresses, they just aren't really made for twirling.

And, just cos you've been lovely, here is a picture of my own debs dress (which was lovely too, in it's own way)

I can't believe that was almost two years ago now... Weeeird. So, there you go, a few debs dresses to get you thinking. Don't be afraid to stand out from the rest of them, I mean, that's what we WANT right? :D
